Hi, Readers.
Today I would like to share another mini tip about Business Central, how to reset/clear all filters to defaults on the list page in Business Central.
There are a few things that you can do that will help you scan, find, and limit records on a list. These include sorting, searching, and filtering. You can apply some or all of these simultaneously to quickly find or analyze your data. Filtering in Business Central provides a more advanced and versatile way to control which records are included in a list.
On lists, you set filters by using the filter pane.

Or select a cell on the list, choose the drop-down arrow, and then choose the Filter to This Value action.

There is a small problem here. When we need to clear all filters, we generally need to click the close icon in the upper left corner of each filter.

There is actually a very simple solution that I find some technicians and users have not noticed. At the bottom of the filter pane, there is a Reset filters action.

It should be noted that this button does not clear all filters, but resets them. What does that mean?
As you know, when you have set a filter on a list and you want to keep the filter for later, you can save it as a view. (Views are only available on list pages)

If you’re saving a new view, enter a name for the view in the All (Copy) box. If you don’t give it a name, it will be named All (Copy).

This is a great feature, we can easily switch the filter set to be displayed at any time.

PS: Views in Dynamics 365 Business Central are used on list pages to define a different view of the data on a given page. A view offers:
- Filtering on multiple table fields on the source table defined for the page.
- Sorting of the data on multiple table fields, but only in one direction; either ascending or descending.
- Layout changes, modifying page columns, moving them, etc.
More about To save a view in MS Docs.
If you add new filters or modify the filters to the current view, an asterisk is automatically added and the front of the view name becomes italic.

You can click the save icon to the right of the name to update the current view.

Very simple, but very practical. Give it a try!!!😁
