Business Central 2025 wave 1 (BC26): Support for SOAP endpoints is deprecated (Disable SOAP web services on Microsoft UI pages)

Dynamics 365 Business Central

Hi, Readers.
Dynamics 365 Business Central 2025 wave 1 (BC26) is generally available. More details: General Available: Dynamics 365 Business Central 2025 release wave 1 (BC26).

I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful. In this post, I would like to briefly share an important piece of information, support for SOAP endpoints is deprecated.

SOAP web services enable full flexibility for building operation-centric services. They provide industry-standard interoperability and channel and host pluggability.
You can use SOAP to interact with page or codeunit web services in Business Central.

This can be accessed through an external service.

This info was first announced in 2021 release wave 1 (version 18.0), more details: Changes in 2021 release wave 1 (version 18.0)

Then this is mentioned in Changes in 2021 release wave 2 (version 19.0)

And in Changes in 2024 release wave 1 (version 24.0)

With this wave (BC26), the SOAP URL on the Web Service page is no longer available.

But this is controlled by the following feature on the Feature Management page, which is enabled by default, but you can disable it to continue using SOAP URLs.

As shown on the Feature Management page, this feature will be completely removed in 2026 release wave 2 (version 29.0). More details: Changes in 2026 release wave 2 (version 29.0):

In conclusion:

  • Support for SOAP endpoints is deprecated in Business Central and will be removed in an upcoming release. Start to move your solutions to use either ODataV4 or API pages/queries. API pages/queries are recommended.
  • Support for publishing Microsoft UI pages as SOAP web services will be removed in Business Central 2026 release wave 2 (version 29.0). Starting in version 26.0, Microsoft UI pages can’t be published as SOAP web services unless the Feature: Disable SOAP web services on Microsoft UI pages key in Feature Management is turned off. Great. Give it a try!!!😁

Hope this will help.
