I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful.
Use enhanced Financial Reporting capabilities:
Business value:
The no-code Financial Reporting feature offers significant benefits to finance departments by enabling self-service financial reporting and statements without the need for developer assistance. The enhancements boost productivity by allowing report viewers to hide empty rows. Report owners can document usage, write introductory and closing paragraphs, and save and run reports using Excel templates. Administrators can monitor required permissions and access telemetry for report usage and lifecycle events.Overall, these improvements streamline financial reporting processes, saving time and resources while improving accuracy and accessibility.

The Financial Reports feature gives you insights into the financial data shown on your chart of accounts (COA). Business Central provides sample financial reports you can use right away as templates. You can also set up your own reports to specify the figures to compare.

With this wave, Microsoft has enhanced the Financial Reporting feature with capabilities for report viewers, report owners, and administrators. Let’s see more details.
Financial report viewers can:
- Choose to hide empty rows when they view a financial report.

- Chose to print a financial report in portrait mode.



- Choose to use an accounting format where negative numbers are formatted with () instead of a minus sign when running a financial report.

What’s new: Financial reporting (for report users):
Financial report owners can:
- Document the use of report definitions (using an internal description field).


- Write introduction and closing paragraphs for their reports.


This will be displayed on the page and in the report.



- Save their Excel templates in Business Central.


- Run a financial report using a saved Excel template.

- Use a new Month to Date column type.

- Find financial reports that use a column or row definition.



- Use an accounting format where negative numbers are formatted with () instead of a minus sign. (Same as explained in Financial report viewers)

On the report:


- Open financial reporting when they create a new G/L account.


What’s new: Financial reporting (for report authors):
Administrators can:
- Use the documentation to find out which permissions are needed to run or edit financial reports.
Set up the Change Log for financial report definitions: The following table lists the table for financial report definitions and their IDs.

Get notified when financial report definitions change: To add an extra layer of security around your financial report definitions, you can monitor changes to their fields and get an email when someone changes a value.
