Business Central 2024 wave 1 (BC24): New in-client AppSource gallery (new Microsoft Appsource Apps page)

Dynamics 365 Business Central

Hi, Readers.
Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 wave 1 (BC24) is generally available. More details: General availability: Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 release wave 1 (BC24)

I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful.

In this post, I would like to share a small update, new in-client AppSource gallery (new Microsoft Appsource Apps page). This is not yet documented in the Business Central 2024 release wave 1 (BC24) release plan. But it is mentioned in What’s new: Developer tools (Business Central Launch Event).

In how to install AppSource Extension in Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS, we briefly discussed how to install the AppSource Extension from Extension Marketplace.

It’s not a very easy page to search, filter and sort.

With this wave (BC24), Microsoft has prepared a new page, Microsoft Appsource Apps page.

This page calls an external service to Extension Marketplace (AppSource). So we need to allow the request before opening the page.

Microsoft AppSource Apps:

Page info:

page 2515 “AppSource Product List”:

table 2515 “AppSource Product”:

This is like a normal list page in BC, we can view, sort, filter on the new Microsoft Appsource Apps page.
For example,

In-client Analysis mode can also be used.

Next let’s look at actions on the page.
Click the Extension name, you can open the App Overview (Extension information on AppSource) in BC client.

Choose View AppSource to view all Business Central apps in AppSource.

Choose View in AppSource on the Microsoft Appsource Apps/App Overview page to view selected app in AppSource.

You can also refresh the list by downloading the latest apps from Microsoft AppSource. (Choose Refresh list from Microsoft AppSource)

Locale will be used to determine the market and language will be used to determine the language of the app details listed here. So you can choose Edit User Settings if you want to change these settings directly.

Great. Give it a try!!!😁

PS:
1. Microsoft has also prepared three views to facilitate filtering.

2. How to install AppSource extension/app via AL

3. Automatically update AppSource apps with minor updates (Apps Update Cadence)

END

Hope this will help.

Thanks for reading.
