Today I would like to share another mini tip about Business Central, how to show the user’s display name on the top navigation bar when user is signed in.
When a user signs in to Business Central, the user’s profile photo will be displayed in the upper right corner, and if it is not set up, it will automatically take the initials of the user’s name. For example,
Here’s a small question, is there a way to display the user’s name? Yes of course. This is not a setting in Business Central, it is a setting in Microsoft 365. Let’s see more details.
You can access the Microsoft 365 admin center from the App Launcher in the Business Central, or open Microsoft 365 admin center directly.

Then choose Settings -> Org settings
Click Organization profile
Then click Custom themes
Choose Add theme
Select Show the user’s display name, and then click Save.

Name appears on top navigation bar when user is signed in. Long names may be shortened.
Your changes have been saved.
That’s all. Go back to BC and refresh the page. You can see that the user name has been displayed.
