Dynamics 365 Business Central: The Azure region in Japan has changed??? (Southeast Asia -> Japan East)

Hi, Readers.
I work in Japan, and my friend discovered an interesting change of Business Central about Japan Region last week. The Azure region in Japan has changed from BC19.0, Southeast Asia -> Japan East.

I immediately went to confirm.

BC18.5
Country/region: JP
Azure Region: Southeast Asia

BC19.0
Country/region: JP
Azure Region: Japan East

Yes, it has indeed changed. The same is true for the newly created BC19.0 production environment.

Then I opened Geographical availability for Dynamics 365 Power BI Report provided by Microsoft. But it looks like it hasn’t been updated yet.

So the next question is, if the customer environment is upgraded from 18.5 to 19.0, will the Azure Region change?
Fortunately, Microsoft recently restart the major update of BC19.0 these days.

Let me test it with this environment.

Now the Azure region of this environment is Southeast Asia.

The major update is complete.

The azure region of this environment is changed to Japan East.😮

So now the environment in JP of BC19.0 only has Japan East Azure region, whether you are a new environment or an upgraded environment. I’m not sure about the situation in other countries and regions, but it seems that Microsoft has added some new Azure regions for Business Central.

PS: I also tested the environment of other major countries and regions in Southeast Asia.

Hong Kong SAR (HK)

Taiwan

South Korea (KR): Korea Central (Is this also new? Same as in Japan East, it does not appear in the Power BI report above)
