I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful. In this post, I would like to talk about Modernizing analytical reports for inventory.
Modernizing analytical reports for inventory:
Modernized inventory reports deliver a more intuitive experience by replacing outdated RDL layouts with familiar Excel and Word formats, making analysis and editing easier. Updated documentation helps you quickly learn about and apply these reports. The addition of the new Item Age Composition by Quantity and Value report provides deeper insights into ageing inventory. Deprecating older reports reduces redundancy and streamlines reporting for better decision-making and operational efficiency.

In Business Central, you can use reports to print or display information from a Business Central database. Use reports to structure and summarize information to print documents, such as invoices. For example, create a report that lists all customers and orders that each customer adds. Also, create a report that’s automatically filled with the relevant information for an invoice.
With this wave (BC28), Microsoft has added modernized versions of the following inventory reports:
PS: By modernizing a report, Microsoft means:
- Microsoft replaced RDL layouts with Excel and Word layouts.
- Microsoft updated their documentation in Microsoft Learn.

- Item Availability
- Inventory Purchase Orders
- Item/Vendor Catalog
- Inventory Availability Plan
- Item Age Composition by Quantity and Value (new report)

Microsoft has also deprecating the following reports:
- Item Age Composition – Value
In BC27 and previous versions:

- Items with Negative Inventory
In BC27 and previous versions:
Microsoft has deprecated some standard reports. If your customers are still using them, or if you have added customizations, please confirm this before upgrading.
