Hi, Readers.
Today I would like to share another mini tip about Business Central, how to create a new item from a picture.
Items, among other products, are the basis of your business, the goods, or services that you trade in.

Each item must be registered as an item card.

Let’s look at a simple example.
On the Items page, choose the New action. If only one item template exists, then a new item card opens with some fields filled with information from the template.

On the Select a template for a new item page, choose the template that you want to use for the new item card. Choose the OK button. A new item card opens with some fields filled with information from the template.

Proceed to fill or change fields on the item card as necessary. Hover over a field to read a short description.

PS: To reuse settings for different types of items when you create new items, you can save items as item templates. Item templates help speed-up the process of adding new items, and increase consistency in your item data. When you register a new item, a page appears that lets you choose a template. After you choose a template, its settings are filled in for you on the item you’re creating. If you only have one item template, new items always use that template.

So, did you know there is another approach? We can actually create an item directly from a picture/image.
Click the down arrow to the right of New, and you will see New from picture action.
New from picture
Create a new item from a picture and specify details such as item attributes.

If you use it for the first time, the following message will appear. choose Yes.

Then, you can upload a picture to get started.

Analyzing your picture…

Done. The system will automatically select the most suitable Category based on the image and suggest a Template to apply.

If no suitable Category is found, it will be left blank.

Then, you can complete the item’s attributes under Item Attribute Values.

After choosing OK, the item will be automatically created.

The item picture will be added automatically. The auto-generated Description will include the source image name, but you can delete it if you’d like.

The rest of the content is populated from the Template to apply selected during creation, and the Item Attribute values are also saved automatically.

Great. Give it a try!!!😁
