Business Central 2026 release wave 1 (BC28): Analyze customer loyalty and other sales scenarios

Dynamics 365 Business Central

Hi, Readers.
Dynamics 365 Business Central 2026 wave 1 (BC28) is generally available. More details: General Available: Dynamics 365 Business Central 2026 release wave 1 (BC28)

I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful. In this post, I would like to talk about Analyze customer loyalty and other sales scenarios.

Analyze customer loyalty and other sales scenarios:

This update helps sales and finance teams better understand customer loyalty and sales trends through new Power BI reporting, enabling more informed decisions to strengthen customer relationships and drive revenue. Built‑in sales reports now include subtotals in Excel layouts, reducing the need for manual adjustments when analyzing results. A new analysis view on the Sales Order List provides insights into expected sales volume, customer demand, and aged accounts, supporting more proactive pipeline and cash flow management. Additionally, enhanced demo sales data enables more realistic testing, training, and reporting scenarios.

The following are the names of the new Power BI reports for customer loyalty:

  • Customer Retention Overviewc
  • Customer Retention History

PS: You need to install the Power BI app first.
1. Power BI apps (latest version)

2. Business Central 2024 wave 2 (BC25.1): Use embedded Power BI reports out of the box (In-client Power BI reports)

Also, Microsoft added subtotals to the Excel layouts for these built-in sales reports:

  • Salesperson Commission
  • Customer/Item Sales
  • Inventory Order Details
  • Inventory Customer Sales
  • Inventory – Sales Back Orders

You can now use analysis view on the Sales Orders list page to explore: (I haven’t been able to find these three views in the BC28.1 yet)

  • Expected sales volume
  • Customer sales by volume
  • Aged accounts by month

To make it easier to try out and demonstrate sales features, Microsoft has added more sales orders and sales backorders.
