Business Central 2026 release wave 1 (BC28): Newly added Workflow Templates (Item Journals & Requisition Worksheets) missing in upgraded environments

Today I’d like to share a question I’ve been asked recently, newly added Workflow Templates (Item Journals & Requisition Worksheets) missing in upgraded environments.

In Business Central 2026 release wave 1 (BC28): Include approvals for requisition worksheets and item journals in your workflows (New standard workflows), we briefly discussed Microsoft extending approval workflows to item journals and requisition and planning worksheets in this wave (BC28).

For example, Item Journal

However, while these two new workflow templates are available out-of-the-box in a fresh version 28.0 environment, they are noticeably absent in environments that have been upgraded. For example,
Version: US Business Central 28.0 (Platform 28.0.49703.0 + Application 28.0.46665.49991)

And since Workflow Templates cannot be created manually, how do we use this new feature?

It’s actually very simple.
Select Tell Me (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter Workflow Templates, and then choose the related link.

Then, choose **Reset Microsoft Templates**.

After a short while, you will see these two new Worfklow Templates.

This might be automatically updated in future versions, but for the current upgraded environment, this is the only way to do it.
