Hi, Readers.
Today I would like to talk about how to schedule Financial Reports via Email (Send Regular Financial Reports to Your Inbox) in Business Central.
In Business Central the Financial Reports feature gives you insights into the financial data shown on your chart of accounts (COA). You can set up financial reports to analyze figures in general ledger (G/L) accounts, and compare general ledger entries with budget entries. Business Central provides sample financial reports you can use right away as templates. You can also set up your own reports to specify the figures to compare.

As you might know, you can schedule a single or recurring report to run at a specific date and time. Scheduled reports are entered in the job queue and processed at the scheduled time, similar to other jobs. Select the Schedule option after selecting Send to, then enter information, such as the printer, and time and date.
For example, Customer – Order Summary (107)

The report is added to the job queue and runs at the specified time. When the report is processed, the item is removed from the job queue. Learn more at Use job queues to schedule tasks.

You can save the report to a file (such as Excel, Word, or PDF), print it, or only generate the report. If you save the report to a file, then the processed report is sent to the Report Inbox page on your Role Center for you to view it. Learn more at Share and export reports with the report inbox.

Please note that not all reports are supported, and not all reports can be sent directly via email, they will only be saved in the Report Inbox within BC.
Historically, Financial Reports in BC has lacked support for scheduling when generating or printing reports.

But that has finally changed. With Business Central 2026 release wave 1 (BC28), report users can schedule reports for a distribution group. Recipients can get the report output in an email and in their report inbox.

PS: In BC27.5 and previous versions

Let’s see more details.
You can find this new action, Schedules, on the Financial Reports page and the Financial Report Card page.

Then you will see the Financial Report Schedules page.

For a single Financial Report, you can set multiple schedules. Set a code and description. In this example, I checked Export to PDF and Send Email.

Then you need to set the recipients, which can be multiple.

Please note that the user’s email address is derived from User Setup. If it is not added to User Setup, the following error message will be displayed.

The User Setup does not exist. Identification fields and values: User ID=’LIDIAH’

Then you can set Next Run Date/Time and Recurrence Run Date Formula.

PS: You can also add custom filters, start date filter formula, and end date filter formula.

Custom Filters:

That’s all. You can then find the details of Financial Report Export Job (8361) in Job Queue Entries.

At the set time, an email containing the Financial Report will be automatically sent to the inboxes of all those who set it up.

Great, give it a try!!!😁

Hope this will help.
