Business Central 2025 wave 2 (BC27): App version in “Copy error details”/”Share details via”

Dynamics 365 Business Central 2025 wave 2 (BC27) is generally available. More details: General Available: Dynamics 365 Business Central 2025 release wave 2 (BC27).

I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful. In this post, I would like to talk about App version in “Copy error details”/”Share details via”.

This new feature is not yet documented in the Business Central 2025 release wave 2 (BC27) release plan and AL Language extension changelog Version 16.0, but it is mentioned in What’s new: AL Language

In Business Central 2023 wave 1 (BC22), Microsoft replaced expandable advanced troubleshooting information with a Copy details link to make error dialogs less alarming to end users while maintaining the level of detail needed for advanced troubleshooting.

With Business Central 2024 wave 1 (BC24) Microsoft has enhanced this feature. The Copy details feature has been replaced with the Share feature. For example,

The AL call stack contains the object name, function name, line number, extension name, and extension publisher.

With this wave (BC27), Microsoft has enhanced this feature again, and we can see the version number of the extension in the error details.

In Latest Error:

This version number can be found in Extension Management.

This is great, especially when dealing with customers who have an AppSource extension installed, as the extension might not have been updated and you don’t know what version the user is using. Of course, for standard extension, you can also directly see the current version (CU).

Small update, but it makes life easier. Give it a try!!!😁
