Hi, Readers.

I will continue to test and share some new features that I hope will be helpful.
Avoid document number errors when you post project journals:

Business Central helps reduce or eliminate friction when you work with documents and journals. If you use a number series for project journal batches, you won’t be able to post the journal if the document numbers aren’t in consecutive order. To avoid getting stuck, you can fix errors related to the order of document numbers when you post project journals.
To avoid posting errors caused by the document number, you can use the Renumber Document Numbers action before you post a journal. In all journals that are based on the general journal, the Document No. field is editable so that you can specify different document numbers for different journal lines or the same document number for related journal lines. If the No. Series field on the journal batch is filled, then the posting function in general journals requires that the document number on individual or grouped journal lines be in sequential order. Just choose the Renumber Document Numbers action, and relevant Document No. fields are then updated.

This is very useful, and in Business Central 2023 wave 1 (BC22), Microsoft added the Renumber feature to Item Journals. More details: Business Central 2023 wave 1 (BC22): Avoid document number errors when you post item journals (Renumber Document Numbers in Item Journals)

With this wave (BC26), Microsoft added this feature to Project Journals page. Let’s see more details.
On the Project Journals page, the Document No. field is editable so that you can specify different document numbers for different journal lines, or the same document number for related journal lines.

If a number series is specified in the No. Series field on the project journal batch, document numbers for individual or grouped lines must be in sequential order when you post a project journal. If they aren’t, you can’t post the journal.

Document No. must be equal to ‘PJ00001’ in Project Journal Line: Journal Template Name=PROJECT, Journal Batch Name=CONTOSO, Line No.=10000. Current value is ‘PR00010’.

To avoid getting stuck, you can use the Renumber Document Numbers action on the Project Journals page before you post the journal.

If you have many documents it can take time to sort them, and Business Central might perform slowly during the process. In those cases we suggest that you sort them during non-working hours. Do you want to continue?

The Renumber Document Numbers action also works on filtered views.

In BC25.5 and previous versions:

Great. Give it a try!!!😁
END
Hope this will help.
Thanks for reading.
